What we stand for

Cooperate regionally, decide locally

We like to keep Waalre financially healthy and independent. That’s the common goal and challenge of our fellow residents, our social partners and our partners in the Brainport region. We cooperate based on mutual trust, solidarity and human standards.

Wherever needed, we will help and support

We believe in an inclusive society where everybody can participate. We work together, share responsibility and support those who need it. Together we take care that there are meeting places, places to help each other and to exercise.

It is great to live in Waalre, that’s the way it should be

To grow in line with the Brainport region is OK, but we should keep our unique, green character. Waalre is committed to healthy air, comfortable and energy-saving houses, noiseless traffic, excellent cycle tracks, footpaths, rider trails and excellent public transport.

A healthy, sustainable life and a sound business mind

We create an honest, sustainable economy with room for local entrepreneurship; for innovative, sustainable companies and service providers. But definitely as well for our farmers. Without local farmers no safe, tasty and healthy local food.

Casting a vote

Everyone eligible to vote will receive an invitation to cast their vote sent to their home address no later than fourteen days prior to election day. This invitation includes their poll card. The poll card allows the voter to cast their vote in the polling station of their choice within the municipality's borders.

Voting by proxy

Voters unable to cast their vote in person on election day may have their vote cast by proxy.

Election day: March 16

On the day of the election, all polling stations are open from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm.

At the polling station, you will hand in your voting pass and show your ID, and receive a ballot paper from one of the volunteer staff. Take it into a voting booth, and use a red pencil to choose your candidate by marking or colouring in the box beside their name. Once you have made your choice, fold up your paper to conceal your vote, and put it in the ballot box.

Voting is anonymous, so the booths at the polling station should be arranged so that nobody can see you who vote for. Anybody with a physical impairment is allowed an assistant in the voting booth.

The official results are usually determined by the municipal central electoral committee in open session two days after the election day. On the evening of the election day, preliminary, non-official results are presented in the media. These preliminary results are based on the 'quick count of votes' by the electoral committees.  The results of the municipal council elections are stored in the Electoral Council's election results database.
